FASS Alumni have Dinner at University-Town

They came, they re-united, but it was not exactly walking down memory lane for alumni guests who attended the FASS Dean’s Alumni Dinner on 18 October 2012.

Professor Brenda Yeoh (Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) was joined by over 60 alum who were invited to dinner and a walking tour of the University-Town.  Having heard and read so much about the new campus, many were eager to see and experience U-Town for themselves for the first time.

Six FASS students (themselves staying at U-Town’s Residential Colleges) served as guides, bringing the alum to the Educational Resource Centre, multi-purpose dining halls and a four-bedroom graduate residence. The alum marveled at the spacious and hi-tech environment, wishing they could be students again.

After a 30-minute tour, everybody was treated to a sumptuous dinner at Sapore Italiano restaurant.  All the guests enjoyed catching up with each other. The Geography Honours Class 1990/91 also took the opportunity to organize a reunion at the dinner.  Zairinah Faizal (Soc. Sci. 1991), shared her views about the reunion:  “The FASS Alumni dinner was a meaningful moment for a reconnection of our diverse pathways since graduation. Good, old friends coming together reliving our shared memories, reminiscing our days in the modest Honours Room we had called ‘Home’, marveling at the 21st century wonder of U-Town. The dinner heralded a new beginning, a springboard to more reunions we had pledged that evening. To FASS, our heartfelt gratitude!

FASS hopes to invite more alumni to dinner and tour of U-Town each semester.
