WP Would Get ‘A’ with 60/100 Marks

Associate Professor Tan Ern Ser, Department of Sociology, discussed that the Aljunied-Hougang-Punggol East Town Council saga might not affect the voters’ confidence in the Workers’ Party’s (WP) abilities during the election season.

He added that voters may attribute WP’s mistake to its lack of experience or the uneven playing field that the opposition town councils have to face.

In comparison, the PAP are held to a higher standard and as such, would require more effort to regain the voters’ confidence.

Traditional Spirit of Science Offers much for Asian Century

In an article contribution, Professor Mohan J. Dutta, Head of Department of Communications and New Media, opined that the critical spirit of Science is increasingly missing from conversations on science all across Asia.

There was little space created to enable critical conversations on the claims, side effects of proposed solutions and implications of science-based developments. Instead, arguments are often offered on the basis of economic growth.

He added that the spirit of science, aligned with the search for reason through deliberation and openness, as embodied in the imaginations of Nalanda University, the oldest university in the world, offers invaluable entry points to the constructions of an Asian century.
