This was an article contribution by Professor Paul Cheung from the Department of Social Work at the NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, on the demographic challenges facing Singapore. He concluded that the need to forge a public consensus on our manpower policy and the role of foreigners in our society is more apparent than ever before. Prof Cheung added that we need this shared understanding and shared responsibility to meet the future demographic challenges and to sustain the growth and prosperity of our nation.
