The Kent Ridge Common (KRC) is an independent online newspaper staffed by NUS undergraduates and alumni. Over the three years since it was established, undergraduates have written on a plethora of topics ranging from arts & culture, literary/drama reviews, political, social and economic issues in Singapore today through over 800 news articles, commentaries and analysis.
KRC articles have been cited by The New York Times and Lianhe Zaobao. During the General Elections in 2011, monthly readership closed at a high of approximately half a million readers. This August, KRC has been mentioned in a The Straits Times report as preferring “views backed by strong evidence”. In its UpFront section, KRC has interviewed the likes of local novelist Catherine Lim, movie director Glen Goei, and MP Sylvia Lim.
The Kent Ridge Common is and will always be established upon the vibrancy, thoughts and viewpoints of NUS students. This is thus a call for interested writers who are looking to add some adventure to their time in NUS to join the publication as a writer.
