The Asian Journal of Social Science (AJSS), the flagship journal of the Department of Sociology, has gained entry to the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI). The SSCI is the pre-eminent Social Sciences index and entry to the list is only granted to those few journals that have consistently delivered important and excellent work over a long and sustained period of time.

Published continuously since it was launched in 1973, AJSS is the only Asia-wide journal of the social sciences. It is published six times per year and provides a forum for exploring issues in Southeast Asian societies from the fields of anthropology, economics, geography, history, language and literature, political science, psychology and sociology. Until recently the Editor was A/P Farid Alatas; the new co-executive Editors are Sociology’s A/P Vineeta Sinha and Dr Daniel Goh.

As further testament to the quality of the journal, AJSS was also recently ranked as an ‘A’ grade journal in the Australia Reseach Council’s tiering system of academic publications.

Congratulations to AJSS on their continued success.
