The CIT Auditorium has been fully renovated and is now open for use. The renovation, which took place during the three-month semester break, enabled the installation of new facilities, made room for upgraded equipment, increased the seating capacity and provided a much needed makeover.
Sporting a dark green and brown livery, the CIT Auditorium can seat now 78 people and is equipped for high-end videoconferencing and webcasting. Each seat is equipped with a press-to-talk microphone system, which enables each person in the auditorium to participate in videoconferences. Every person can also plug their laptops into the power and LAN sockets. The auditorium is also served by a wireless network for complete connectivity.
The presenter has a large array of equipment at his/her disposal: three projectors (which can be used in single or dual display mode), a plasma screen that displays the remote site, a writing tablet, a visualiser and various audio-visual equipment necessary for a reliable and comprehensive videoconferencing experience.
Major groundbreaking events such as the APRU Special Presidents Meeting 2003 and the broadcast-quality telemedical surgery videoconference have been held at the CIT Auditorium. Now that the venue has been given a breath of new life, it will continue to be the premier facility for videoconferencing in NUS.
