GRADUATIONS

As an educator, graduation is my favorite season as we watch our students morphing into young adults, ready to step into the next stages of their lives. We see the gathering of the students and their family members celebrating their hard work and successes. Especially heartwarming to see some students who have struggled along the way and putting up their best effort to reach this interim finishing line.

TEACH-OUT YEAR LAST LECTURE

2018 marks the teaching out of the Newcastle University Degree Program in Singapore. The Program is replaced by the NU-SIT joint Degree Program. Here marks my last lecture with the teach-out batch!

 

CATCHING UP WITH MY MENTOR, PROFESSOR KENNETH A. SMITH (MIT)

It was my privilege to be part of the Singapore MIT Alliance Program from 2002-2008. My project was co-supervised by Prof Wang (NUS) and Prof Kenneth A. Smith (MIT). Prof Smith has always taught us to think deeper and thoroughly into the problem that we are solving. He has truly inspired us and helped to shape the mindset and practice of many of us under his tutelage. It always brings us great pleasure to update him on our progress, be it in our career, or in our personal life, every time he makes a visit to Singapore. Our last catch up was in Jan 2017, where we celebrated his 80th Birthday.
