Singapore Breast Cancer Cohort (SGBCC)

SGBCC is a multidisciplinary research programme which focuses on different stages of breast cancer, breast screening, personalized medicine as well as improving the quality of life of breast cancer survivors. It consists of 5 research aspects namely i) Prognosis & Pharmacogenetics, ii) Genomics, iii) Epidemiology & Quality of Life, iv) Mammography & Screening, and v) Anthropology. The objectives for this programme are:

1) To decrease breast cancer mortality rates, without increasing burden of breast cancer to the healthcare system
2) To dedicate our research in the prevention of breast cancer by understanding causes and genetics of the disease.

The programme has active collaborations with local, regional and international partners to assemble a large multi-ethnic cohort to study risk factors for breast cancer. The largest asset under this programme is the Singapore Breast Cancer Cohort (SGBCC) which has a recruitment of more than 10,000 research participants with breast cancer.
