Principal Investigator

Dr. Kelvin Fong Xuanyao (Student '06, M'14, IEEE) received his B.Sc. with distinction and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA in 2006 and 2014, respectively.

Since December 2016, Dr. Kelvin Fong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore. He worked as an Intern Engineer with the Global Circuits Group (Bulldozer) at Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Boxborough Design Center in Massachusetts from January 2007 to August 2007. He was a Postdoctoral Research Assistant supervised by Prof. Kaushik Roy in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN from September 2014 to May 2015. He then joined the Institute of Microelectronics at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore, as a Research Scientist in June 2015.

The primary research interests of Dr. Fong include hardware-software co-design of scalable energy efficient electronics, and interactions across the materials-devices-circuits-architectures-algorithms stack. He is currently an Associate Editor in IEEE Journal on Exploratory Solid-State Computational Devices and Circuits, Transactions on Very Large-Scale Integration Systems, and Transactions on Circuits and Systems - I. He has served on the technical program committee of ICCAD'24, EDTM'24, and BioCAS'23; and was in the organizing committee for ISCAS'24 and CAS-related conferences/workshops in Singapore. He was also the recipient of the “AMD Design Excellence Award” at Purdue in 2008.

Dr. Debasis Das received a B.Sc. degree in Electronic Science in 2009 from the University of Calcutta, India, M.Sc. degree in Electronic Science in 2011, M.Tech. degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in 2013, from Jadavpur University, India. He has completed his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, India, in 2019. He has been working as a Research Fellow in the SEEDER group at the National University of Singapore since 2019. His research interests include the physics and simulation of spintronic-based nanoscale devices such as Magnetic Tunnel Junction, Skyrmion based devices, and its application in neuromorphic computation.

Dr. Subhranu Samanta received his B.Sc and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from Vidyasagar University, India in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Dr. Denys R. B. Ly received his M. Eng. degree in analog and digital circuit design from Grenoble INP Engineering School, France in 2016. He attained his PhD in Nanoelectronics and Nanotechnologies from Grenoble Alpes University and CEA-Leti, France in 2019 and worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the SEEDER group of National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore, from 2021 to 2022. Currently, he is working as a Research Engineer in CEA-Leti, France. His research interests are in the field of emerging non-volatile memories, spanning from device and circuit electrical characterisation, memory circuit design, and use of non-volatile memories to implement non-conventional computing paradigms.

He has been working as a Research Engineer at NUS since 2016. His research interests include cybersecurity in cloud computing, machine learning and FPGA.

Shreyas Nandi received his B.E. degree from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, Hyderabad, in 2017. Prior to joining the SEEDER group, he worked on his bachelor dissertation titled "Calibration of Solar Cell Simulation Models" at the National University of Singapore. He has worked as a summer intern at Texas Instruments, Bangalore in 2015 and was also a recipient of Summer Research Fellowship in 2016 from Indian Academy of Science for summer internship at IISC Bangalore. His current research work includes compact device modeling of spintronic devices and Integrated Circuit design.

Putta Prabhu Thapaswini received her B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Osmania University and the Master’s degree in VLSI design from VIT University in 2014 and 2016 respectively. She was previously pursuing her PhD in Electrical Engineering at National University of Singapore (NUS) under the guidance of Prof. Aaron Voon-Yew THEAN and Asst. Prof. FONG Xuanyao, Kelvin. Her primary research area is Flexible Electronics.
