Like birds with colourful plumage, NUS Libraries staff flocked to the Grand Hyatt for the annual lunch on 9 January. The event started with rousing music as Bhangra dancers showed the University Librarian, Ms Sylvia Yap and the Associate University Librarian, Mrs Lee Cheng Ean to their table. The dancers from the Loans and Membership department wore panjabi outfits, saris and colourful accessories as befitting the theme “Bollywood/Hollywood Gala”.
Two new awards were given out, on top of the usual ones. The “Lifetime Contribution Award” went to staff who have dedicated years of service. Another accolade, the “Shining Star Award” was given to staff who were voted as providing exemplary service by their own colleagues.
We were treated to performances along with a sumptuous lunch buffet. The Information Services department of Central Library treated the audience to a fusion dance combining both Bollywood and Hollywood elements.
With games, contests and a lucky draw, there were lots of fun and laughter all around, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
