GP Rangaiah’s Academic & Research Activities
Welcome to this blog on my academic and research activities and contributions. I have been with NUS since 1982, in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and contributed to its growth in different roles (including Deputy Head for Student and Academic Affairs) for more than 35 years. I am grateful to all my colleagues for their cooperation and collegiality and am happy to become an Emeritus Professor from July 2020.
My education in Chemical Engineering was at Andhra University (B.Tech.), IIT Kanpur (M.Tech.) and Monash University (PhD). I worked in Engineers India Limited for 2 years before my doctoral study and joined NUS after completing my PhD. I taught many subjects in Chemical Engineering (including capstone Design Project,
Process Optimization and Engineering Ethics). My teaching contributions have been recognized with many awards including the Annual Teaching Excellence Award from NUS for 4 years. My research interests are in modelling, optimization and control of chemical and related processes. I supervised 50+ doctoral/masters students and more than 200 undergraduates in their research. I am thankful to all my research students and collaborators in NUS and other universities.
