Pre-Birthday. meow~

Ever heard cats screaming in the middle of the night? It might be coming from a mating female. In today’s post that I am going to share about, the main subjects are two members from the Felidae family – domestic cat, Felis catus and lion, Panthera leo. This documentary “In the womb: Cats” is about before birth – the full process of the development of these cats in the womb, starting from conception to the birth of the kitten and lion cubs.

With the mating of the cats, the loud scream coming from the female cat is because of the pain caused by the withdrawal of the male cat’s penis. This is due to the hook-like spikes on the male cat’s penis where it clear the vagina of the female cat by scraping off the remaining sperms of other male cats within. The scraping action also acts as a trigger for ovulation.

In this documentary, it is interesting to compare between these cats that even though they might be from the same ancestor, each of them have come to evolve so differently and well adapted in their habitats. Our fascination over every feature, every joint and limb of the different members of the Felidae family sculpted by the world we call its womb. This documentary is a must watch for those cats lovers out there.
