At NUS, the wellbeing of our students and staff remains a top priority. In a novel initiative, NUS Libraries collaborated with NUS’ Health & Wellbeing (HWB) team to host immersive relaxation sessions in the 360imx theatrette. These sessions, held in mid-April over two weeks, provided a unique approach to physical and mental wellness.
The Significance of Health and Wellbeing
The pressures of academic life can often take a toll on both students and staff. Recognising this, NUS has continually sought to integrate health and wellness initiatives to support the wellbeing of its community. Regular wellness activities can significantly reduce stress, improve focus, and boost mood, helping individuals thrive both personally and professionally.
The 360imx Experience
The 360imx, located at Central Library, offers immersive experiences through cutting-edge technology. Its 360° display and surround sound system create an engaging environment for various activities, including educational sessions, virtual reality explorations, and wellness practices.
In April, NUS Libraries and the HWB team brought to life an extraordinary series of relaxation sessions in 360imx. Over two weeks, participants were guided through relaxation practices enhanced by the immersive environment, which minimised distractions and deepened focus. The sessions catered to different methods of relaxation combining physical movement, mindful breathing, and an engaging audio-visual experience.
Feedback and Impact
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, and many reported an increased sense of relaxation and stress management!
The immersive relaxation sessions in the 360imx showcase the potential of combining technology with wellness practices to enhance overall well-being of the university community. We look forward to more of such initiatives that support the holistic development of our community.
