Summer is here, summer is now, we hope that you have been doing well! This post is for all of you who are still headed back to school during the holidays. This week, the NUS Res Life team consolidated our list of lesser-known food places near NUS to share with everyone. All the places are a short bus/train ride away, and won’t take more than 30 minutes to reach. Read on to find out more!

Located at The Metropolis, this ramen restaurant offers the perfect piping hot bowl for a rainy day. Their thin, straight and springy noodles, flavourful broth, and decadent cha-shu make a good old bowl of comfort food. Definitely worth a try!

#3 Bread Yard
How often do you get a café that also pays homage to bread making? Bread Yard serves up a range of delightful sandwiches – a healthier, but still tasty, option for lunch. They also have the usual range of brunch options, so take your pick! As it is located in Fusionopolis, this café tends to get crowded during lunch time. If your schedule is flexible, you can get your bread fix here, before or after peak lunch hours!

#4 Colbar
Colbar stands for colonial bar. This eatery is rustic and resembles a rundown kopitiam straight out from the 80s – you’ll feel as though you’ve entered a time warp upon arriving. Fun fact: the eatery used to be a British army barracks site! Surrounded by lush foliage, Colbar serves up both local and western dishes for under $15 – a quirky and tranquil place to visit at least once.

#5 Paddy Hills
This is probably the most Instagrammable eatery in this list (in our opinion)! The food is good, the ambience is good, the service is good, the location is good (i.e. near NUS) – you get the idea. Just check out their location tag on Instagram to get an idea of how Instagram-worthy their food really is! So if you and your friends are ever stumped for places to grab a café brunch, you can definitely check out Paddy Hills.
