Travelling during the summer break seems like the quintessential university experience. At the end of the semester, everyone seems to be jetting off in different directions to holiday destinations all around the world. #4 Thinking of Taipei

The wonderful city of Taipei is a perfect place to go if you really want to get out Southeast Asia. In order to keep costs low, budget flights and hostels or Airbnb are easily found all the time for Taipei. Apart from that, you are guaranteed a good time exploring night markets (e.g. Shilin Night Market), cultural sites (e.g. Jiufen), and even nature parks (e.g. Yeh Liu Geopark).

#5 Maybe Melbourne

With budget flights to Australia, it is possible to find affordable (~$400) roundtrip tickets to holiday destinations that are further away. The city of Melbourne has been voted the most livable city in the world and is definitely worth a visit if your budget allows. Coffee and cafes are a huge part of the Melbourne culture. A trip to this city will involve amazing brunches at Hardware Lane, hipster photo opportunities with the iconic graffiti walls at Hosier Lane, and the colourful beach houses down at Brighton. Road trips out of the city is also a must! The Grampians, Philip Island (also known as Penguin Island) and the Great Ocean Road are popular options to consider. Though a little pricier than the rest of our options, Melbourne is definitely a trip to make this summer or next summer – at least once!
