Environmental Impact & Life Cycle Assessment

Environmental Impact Assessment and Life Cycle Assessment are processes to evaluate the resource consumption and environmental burdens associated with a product, process, package, or activity. These assessments encompass the identification and quantification of energy and material usage, as well as environmental releases across all stages of the life cycle, the assessment of the impact of these energy and material uses and releases to the environment, and the evaluation and implementation of opportunities to effect environmental improvement. There are tools and techniques designed to help in environmental management and, longer term, in sustainable development. LCA is a technique for tracing out all the environmental effects and resource needs through manufacture, use and disposal.
