My first civet poop!

4 months have passed since I found my first civet poop on Pulau Ubin, Singapore!

It was an early morning at Ubin with my 3 friends, Hazel, Vivian and Cherie. The memory is still fresh in my mind probably because of the excitment from finding the first and only poop of the day and partly, it was my first time to Ubin.

With only very few pictures available, and being unsure of how a civet poop may look like in reality, all four of us had our eyes glued to the trails as we cycled or walked. The moment finally came as Hazel and I exclaimed together, “AYEEEEEEE!” We cheered (I think we must have looked funny to the trees and animals around us) and got down to work.

It was the only civet poop that we found on that day. However like what Siva said,” Great that you found scats. It’s just the beginning now.” True enough, that was just the beginning and since that day, I have collected 145 civet scats from Ubin alone!

I would like to thank all who have helped me in some way or another. Special thanks to all my field assistants who never complained a bit throughout the hours of trekking and fieldwork!
