Dementia “Omics” and Biomarkers
I am interested in genome wide profiling of gene expression, RNA splice-variants, and micro-RNA changes using microarray and bioinformatics tools. The goals are to characterize the genetic and epigenetic factors which determine onset and progression of AD and other neurodegenerative dementias, as well as uncover useful biomarkers of prognostic and therapeutic value. More recently, we have started proteomic and lipidomic approaches toward a better understanding of the brain changes underlying dementia.
