Dr. Luo Wei (骆威) is an Assistant Professor in Geography Department and Joint Assistant Professor in Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health at National University of Singapore, where he leads the GeoSpatialX Lab. Before he joined in NUS, he was a Research Associate in Computational Health Informatics Program (CHIP) at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He received the Master degree from Geography Department at University at Buffalo and PhD degree in GeoVISTA Center at the Penn State University. His main research focuses on GIScience, Geovisual Analytics, GeoAI, Spatial Epidemiology, and International Trade and Supply Chains. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles in prominent journals (e.g., Nature, Physics Reports) and conference proceedings. He is the recipient for various fellowships, grants, and awards at the university, state, national, and international levels, including the Geospatial World 50 Rising Stars, the ‘Waldo Tobler Young Researcher Award’ in GIScience selected by the Austrian Academy of Sciences, GIScience Best Paper Award, E. Willard Miller Award in Geography, 1st Place, Penn State University, and so on. His research has been covered by top media outlets such as: CCTV. He has the passion to apply his expertise to address the real-world challenges such as Health Inequality, Supply Chain Disruption, Energy and Food Insecurity, and so on. Current PhD Students

Han Baoyan

Han Baoyan (韩葆妍) is a prospective PhD student in the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore (NUS) who will join us in Spring 2024 under the supervision of Dr Wei Luo. She received her MSc in Spatio-Temporal Analytics and Big Data Mining supervised by Professor Tao Cheng at University College London, followed by her BSc with distinction honours in Department of Mathematics at the University of Liverpool. She is currently working as a research assistant in the laboratory of AI-Powered Financial Technologies Limited, focusing on the evaluation of chatbots. With a focus on social networks, she was previously a research assistant at the Department of Computer and Information Science/State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart Cities, University of Macau. Her research interests primarily cover big data mining and analysis, spatial statistics, spatial economics, international trade, and social network analysis. Kang Siyuan(康思媛) is a Spring 2024 PhD student in the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore under the supervision of Dr Wei Luo. She previously received her undergraduate degree from Wuhan University before completing her master’s degree in the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore. With her extensive research experience, Kang Siyuan’s research interests focus on international trade, international supply chain shifts from a geographical perspective, geovisual analysis and spatial statistics and analysis. Zhou Yangyang

Zhou Yangyang (周阳阳) is a Ph.D. student in the Geography Department at the National University of Singapore (NUS), under the supervision of Dr. Luo Wei. Prior to joining NUS, she excelled as a master’s student at China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). With a wealth of experience from her previous work and education, Zhou Yangyang’s research interests revolve around Healthy City, Geovisual Analytics, and Urban Spatial Statistics and Analysis. Gao Xiaoyong

Gao Xiaoyong (高枭勇) is a Master’s student in Applied GIS at the National University of Singapore. He previously earned his Bachelor’s degree from Beijing Normal University. His research interests lie in GeoAI, geospatial analytics, and GIScience. He is currently involved in a research project on the impact of climate change on dengue fever, led by Dr. Luo Wei. Lan Lingsheng

Lan Lingsheng (蓝羚升) is a master student at the Department of Architecture, National University of Singapore. Her academic interests focus on geovisual analysis, spatial statistics, urban growth modelling and healthy cities. Li Jixiao

Li Jixiao (李霁筱) is a master student of Department of Biological Science, National University of Singapore. Her research interests centered around climate change, fragmentation, and the critical examination of how international trade practices influence biodiversity conservation, which reflects a commitment to understanding the environmental impacts of human activities, while seeking innovative solutions to foster sustainability.

Pu Yifan (蒲奕帆) is a NUS Msc Applied GIS student with skills in programming (Javascript, Python, etc.) and environmental risk modelling prediction, currently exploring the possibilities of trade dependency and GIS visualisation presentation at GeospatialX, studied at MUC and UCC.

Shi Lei

Li Mengqi (李梦琪) is a master’s student at the Institute of Geography, University of Zurich, Switzerland, specializing in Geographic Information Science with a minor in Data Science. Currently, she is focusing on evaluating the lagged meteorological impacts on dengue fever incidence. Her academic interests revolve around GeoAI, Health Geography, GIScience, and Data Mining. Lin Zezheng

Lin Zezheng (林泽正) has a bachelor’s degree from Renmin University of China. He carries a GPA of 91.5% with 318 credits obtained. His focus is on studies of Spatial Politics, Labor Sociology, and Sociology of Science and Technology. He has conducted research published in International Sociology Association, International Labour Organization, and Asia Geographical Association. He has served at United Nations Industrial Development Organization, National Academy of Development and Strategy in Renmin University of China, and Harvard College AUSCR Summit for Young Leaders in China. He was also a full scholarship student of Global Citizen Year Academy in China.

Liu Zhihao

Liu Zhihao (刘志豪) is currently a senior undergraduate student majoring in Geographic Information Science at Yangtze University. He has a strong passion for programming and spatial analysis and design a website focusing on the visualization and recommendation system for voluntary college entrance exam choices in China. Sun Jiashuo (孙嘉铄) is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree at the University of Hong Kong, with double majors in Geography and Economics, and a minor in Computer Science. Mohit Chaurasiya is a third-year undergraduate at the Netaji Subhas University of Technology, majoring in Geoinformatics. His research interests lie at the intersection of Technology and Health Policy. Mohit is also working as a Research Associate at the Center for Geographic Analysis at Harvard University to develop data science solutions for better policy-making around Health, Nutrition and Population in India. Mohit is the Lead of Google Developer Student Clubs and the President of AI Research Group at the Netaji Subhas University of Technology, mentoring beginners in tech and research space to apply data science for social good.

Lawrence Chew is an alumnus from the MSC GIS programme at the Department of Geography, National University of Singapore. Ran Yiding

Ran Yiding (冉一玎) obtained her master’s degree at the NUS MSc Applied Geographic Information System program. She is interested in research on geospatial health, recommendation systems and the societal impact of technology systems. In the past, she has done research at the Web Information Retrieval / Natural Language Processing Group (WING) at NUS, in which she studied course recommendation systems and proposed a multi-objective course recommender that focuses on both accuracy optimization and user experience optimization. She presented this work at the MORS22 workshop of ACM RecSys 2022. She graduated with a BSc in Business Analytics with a second major in Economics from the National University of Singapore in 2022. Wang Haoran (王浩然) is good at making spatial analysis and map visualization. He has a good sense of space. He likes to study various games related to spatial logic, such as Rubik’s Cube, Minesweeper, and Open Space Games. He enjoys artistic maps and will spend some time doing map design himself. Yang Zihui

Yang Zihui (杨梓晖) graduated from Shenzhen University and is also an alumnus of the MSC GIS program in the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore. Zhou Yuxuan (周宇轩) is currently a PhD student in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, City University of Hong Kong.
