NUS Philosophy Professor Qu Hsueh Ming Wins Young Researcher Award

qu hsueh mingCongratulations to NUS Philosophy Provost’s Chair Professor Qu Hsueh Ming, who has won the 2023 Young Researcher Award at the annual University Research Awards!

Prof Qu previously won the FASS Award for Excellent Researcher in 2021 (read more here). He is originally from Malaysia and joined the NUS Philosophy Department in 2015. Prior to that he received his Ph.D. from New York University and completed his B.Phil. at Oxford University. He is an expert on Early Modern Philosophy, primarily the scholarship of David Hume. 

Prof Qu’s research output is outstanding – he has published more than a number of full professors in comparable fields and departments. His articles typically appear in tier 1 academic journals and his 2020 book, Hume’s Epistemological Evolution (Oxford University Press), was nominated for the American Psychological Association (APA) book prize in 2021.

Prof Qu, whose citation count is 179, has also received the Grant for Research Excellence from the NUS Office of the Deputy President (Research & Technology) every award cycle from 2016 to 2022. In addition, he was the FASS Dean’s Chair in 2021 and is currently serving as the Associate Editor of the Australasian Journal of Philosophy.
