Apology for lapse in IVLE service

Dear students and staff of NUS,

Over the past few days, you will probably have encountered slowness or loading errors with IVLE.

The beginning of every semester brings with it high load, which we expect.

However, IVLE experienced an unprecedented number of hits this time around – more than twice the normal average daily load compared to previous start of semesters.

This resulted in access problems which peaked late on Tuesday night, 10 August.

We know that this has frustrated you to no end as you could not download lecture notes and tutorial questions nor check on location details for your classes.

For this, the Centre for Instructional Technology apologizes.

Our IVLE team has knuckled down to resolve these issues.

We have reviewed and optimized IVLE’s code to ensure that page loading is done as efficiently as possible.

We have also enabled caching of pages to reduce load on IVLE servers, thereby improving performance.

With these measures in place, you should be able to experience IVLE without hitches.

Our staff will continue monitoring IVLE 24 hours a day, every day of the week to make sure that you are able to access IVLE at any time.

If you encounter any issues, please contact us.

Once again, we are sorry for this lapse in service.

      Regards,
      The IVLE Team
