Working with Generative AI
Sharing by A/P Ted TSCHANG (Associate Professor of Strategic Management at SMU’s Lee Kong Chian School of Business)
Speaker’s Bio: “Speaker Bio: My original background was in public policy and industrial sustainability. I’m interested in developing design theories as they pertain to innovation and new business models. This stems from my studies of videogame design processes, and more recently design thinking. I’ve studied other media as well, including virtual worlds, and have done industry studies in the past on the emergence of software industries in developing countries. Most of my work is qualitative, but with AI, I’ve moved more into theorizing on its impacts and on how AI is transformative of how we work, think, and innovate. ”
During this session, he will discuss some points of view about generative AI (specifically, large language models like ChatGPT), as they relate to SMU’s use in teaching, and to his research on their use. Most of his own use of LLMs relates to how he makes sense of their transformation of the research and innovation process. He will also discuss some ideas for an upcoming class on generative AI and to its use in work and business.
