Olivia Wong
April 2022 to December 2022
Hi! I’m Olivia, a Year 1 (going on Year 2) student studying Communications and New Media, and I reside in Cinnamon College under the University Scholars Programme.
I have a keen appreciation for the little things in life— a sleepy sunrise, clouds with funny shapes, sounds of piano-playing streaming out of a house, fallen crumbs of a croissant lying await at the bottom of its paper bag… the list goes on. Such an appreciation is reflected in my love for stories, be it listening to them or telling them. Whilst I endeavour to share meaningful stories here, I also look forward to hearing from you— perhaps over a cup of cold brew (throw in a slice of banana bread too)!
July 2021 to December 2021
Hi everyone, I’m Bethany! I’m a Year 3 student studying Communications and New Media with a second major in Psychology. I stayed in the College of Alice and Peter Tan for the first 2 years of my uni life and it was really so much fun! 🥳
Speaking of fun, a fun fact about me is that I really love penguins and dogs. In my free time, you might find me playing the drums, graphic designing or trying to find the recipe for the tiramisu served in the CAPT dining hall (Just kidding! 🤪 But I really do love CAPT tiramisu!).
I’d love to hear your thoughts and suggestions for the blog, and I hope to write about the things you really care about! ☺️
July 2020 to July 2021
Heya! I’m Chloe and I’m a Year 2 Comms and New Media student with a minor in Psychology.
A few little things in life that make me really happy are little succulents, visiting new places and travelling 🗺. Also am definitely a huge foodie… but if I could only eat one thing from supper stretch for the rest of my uni days, it would have to be the sweet and sour pork rice from the HK stall 🤤 – and I definitely recommend you try it!
If you would like to know more about some other things I love and can rave about for hours, I’m always down for a good sushi date and a fun conversation about life 🤪
Lydia Gan Si Lang
August 2019 to June 2020
Hiya! My name is Lydia Gan, but my friends call me a whole range of things: Ly, Liz, Lyds, Lood, and whatever creative combination you can think of.
I’m a Year 1 freshman in FASS studying Communications and New Media. I stay in College of Alice and Peter Tan as a proud member of Phoenix house (Phoenix burn!). You’ll usually find me in the lounge with newspaper in hand, or camped out with my laptop watching my favourite shows, and if the above two fail, most probably taking a long nap in my room. I also love to dance, write, and occasionally draw. I would love to know any of your thoughts/suggestions, and am always on for a good matcha latte outing. 🙂
Huang Huilin Megan
September 2018 to June 2019
Hi everyone! I major in Polictical Science and CnM. My hobbies are travelling, any kind of photography and watching movies. I’ve toured Europe and been to the UK, but so far Japan is my favourite country. I aspire to travel to the US one day and I hope to pursue a career in the public sector next time. Nice to meet all of you!
Goh Jia Lin
February 2018 to July 2018
I am Jia Lin. I am doing my major in environmental studies (geography). I have no idea why. I have never gotten any practical knowledge of it but there are a few weeks left before I graduate, so maybe the tides may turn. I am a laidback and easygoing person. I play badminton on a recreational basis with my friends weekly. I bake bread and granola for my family (no butter involved, as I am butter-challenged). I also doodle and paint at my own pace and time. But on occasion, especially when doing my barista shift in the cafe during peak hours, I get serious and tense to the extent where my boss has to remind me to smile 🙂
Tay Ming Fang Audrey
August 2017 to December 2017
Hello friends! I am Audrey, a Year 4 Communications and New Media student. I enjoy meeting new people, travelling, eating and sometimes (most of the time)… I just want to curl up in bed. In all honesty, referring to myself as a Year 4 student, does scare me quite a bit! Yet, that’s exactly why I am here – to write for a blog. Many times I’ve thought to myself, “if only someone told me about this!” or “If I actually knew this earlier…”. Hence I am here to (hopefully) write about things that matter 🙂
Veronica Tan, enthused and excited
January 2017 to June 2017
Hello! My name is Veronica and I’m a year 3 Geography major. I have stayed at College of Alice and Peter Tan (CAPT) since I was a freshman, and I would like to think that I’m pretty experienced at residential life in NUS. I love traveling, nature, creative writing, coffee, watching too much YouTube, iPhone photography, and just trying new things in general. I believe in making the most of my university life – working hard, playing hard, and being absolutely positive!
I am very excited to be writing for NUS Res Life and I’d love to hear from you guys! You can give me suggestions and comments by dropping me an email me a0130910@u.nus.edu! Let me know what you think 🙂
Park Se Hyun (Sophie)
August 2016 to December 2016
Arintha Adelina, a Baby Blogger
January 2016 to June 2016
Hello… It’s me. No I am not Adele, although my last name is pretty close – Adelina. You can call me by my first name; it’s Arintha and I am your new RL intern blogger! 🙂
I’m a Year 1 DDP student, studying Business Administration as well as Communications and New Media and I currently live in Prince George’s Park Residences. Ever since I was a kid I have always loved dancing (quite decently), singing (horribly), and writing (I guess we’ll see how I do!). I also like to watch YouTube and TV drama series, from the hilarious Friends to the gory The Walking Dead. Like a crawling baby still learning to walk, I still have a lot to learn about writing and blogging. So please help me by giving your feedback anytime. Do not hesitate to drop me an email at e0005038@u.nus.edu! You can also email me all your suggestions and requests, such as a feature of someone or an event in your NUS hall/residence that you want me to write about.
Hopefully this baby will be able to run soon!
Vu Quynh Huong, Your Neighborhood’s Writer
September 2015 to December 2015
Hey there! My name is Huong. Yes, it’s one of those names that is impossible to pronounce (accurately) and even harder to spell. But do not worry, I do respond to all variants of pronunciations you can come up with: Hng, Hong, Hing, etc.
I am a year 3 business student with a major in Marketing and minor in Communications and New Media. I’m a major foodie and I love exploring new food places in the ever evolving F&B scene in Singapore. But when I’m not stuffing my face with yummy food, I enjoy reading, listening to music, catching up on American and Korean variety shows, penning down my thoughts and dreaming about my next trip.
I promise to be very meticulous and experimental with my work but if you have any feedback about them or would love to see your hall’s events featured here in this space, do drop me an email at quynhhuong.vu@u.nus.edu . We never know, maybe your idea can turn into one of those viral articles that help us all rise to fame overnight.
Anna Victoria Matias Villarica, Blogger Zero
Feb 2015 to June 2015
My name is Anna, and I am your Blogger Zero. Think of me as like “Patient Zero” in pandemics – except that I spread good news about the NUS residential community rather than diseases!
I am a Communications and New Media major, and I live at Prince George’s Park Residences. I love writing, drawing, travel, horror films, everything about Hollywood, and electronic music.
If you have feedback on my work, or have an event or a person in your NUS hall/residence you think is worthy of a feature, drop me a line at a0099990@u.nus.edu. I might just run with your story suggestion!
Hi! For the intern bloggers application, is it a requirement to stay on campus because I don’t, but the position seems really interesting!
Thanks
Hi Esther, thanks for your keen interest! Staying on campus is simply a preference, but not a strict requirement.
Do keep a lookout in future for our recruitment call 🙂
