AR Navigation for NUS

AR Navi is an Android application that helps anyone new to the Faculty of Engineering in NUS to navigate to the different locations in the faculty, and to get acquainted with the various facilities, offices, and places of interest that can be found throughout the faculty.

Download and Install

Click here to download the application. It will be installed automatically. An Internet connection is required the first time the application is run to allow device settings to be downloaded.

Main Interface

This is the main interface. The 3D map which is overlaid on the camera view is displayed according to the direction you are facing. The red arrow on the map shows your location and the direction you are facing in the map, and will be updated as you walk around campus.

Individual buildings on the map can be tapped on the touch-screen to bring up places of interest in those buildings.

Specially-designed markers have been placed at various locations in the faculty of engineering. Point your mobile device at a marker to fix your current location, and discover interesting facts about your location.

Don’t worry, markers are not that hard to find! There are 156 markers!

Buttons

The “Direction” button brings up an interface to allow you to select two locations, where an animated path will be displayed showing the navigation route from the first location to the second.

The “Map” button stops the map from rotating according to the direction you are facing, and allows you to use the touch-screen to rotate, drag, and zoom in and out of the map.

The “Capture” button takes a screenshot of what you are seeing on-screen.

The “About” button gives you information about the application.

Supported Devices

All Android 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3 devices with camera, GPS, accelerometer, magnetic sensor, and Internet should be able to run this application.
