Prof. Patrick Finbarr Allen

Finbarr Allen is currently Dean, NUS Faculty of Dentistry and Director of the National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore.  He is a Professor in the discipline of Operative Dentistry, Endodontics and Prosthodontics, and a Senior Consultant in the National University Hospital, Singapore.  His clinical interests are Prosthodontics, implantology, craniofacial rehabilitation and restorative treatment of the elderly patient.

Since graduation in 1988 from University College Cork, Ireland, he has worked in general practice, hospital practice and clinical academia in Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle University Dental School and Hospitals in the UK, and most recently, University College Cork, Ireland.  He completed specialist training in Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry in the UK in 2000.  He has also held visiting appointments at the University of Toronto, Hong Kong University and Otago University, New Zealand.

To date, he has published over 200 peer reviewed scientific papers and research abstracts in the scientific dental literature and is the author of 2 textbooks and eleven book chapters.  He received a Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Association for Dental Research in 2011 for achievement in the area of geriatric oral health research.
