Dr. Piyatida Chuengsaman

Dr. Piyatida Chuengsaman is a nephrology professional in clinical nephrology, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation, since 2001. For the last 14 years, her interest is centred around peritoneal dialysis. She was one of the leads heading three pilot projects for PD first policy at Banphaeo Hospital (public organization) in 2006. From 2008 to 2012, she worked as the consultant for kidney project, National Health Security Office. She also worked with Nephrology Society of Thailand under the Peritoneal Dialysis Subcommittee, and is now the Vice Chairman of the subcommittee. She has also done many research and quality improvement programmes presented at the regional and international level. Her special focus within peritoneal dialysis programmes are developing retraining programmes and bringing the community to care for patients on home dialysis under the chronic care model. Currently, Dr Piyatida and her team are taking care of a total of 880 PD patients. They are part of the biggest dialysis centre in Thailand (ranked second in the world).
