Dr. Piya Hanvoravongchai

Dr. Piya Hanvoravongchai is the secretary general of the Thai National Health Foundation and program director of the Equity Initiative of the CMB Foundation, based in Bangkok, Thailand. He also teaches health economics and health systems at Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University.

Piya has been active in health policy and system research and development in Thailand and globally. He is a member of the National Health Reform Commission and National Health Workforce Commission in Thailand and a member of the Strategic Technical Advisory Committee of the Asia-Pacific Observatory on Health Systems and Policy. He advised the Thai Civil Service Commission and sat on various committees of Thailand Health Security Board and the Social Security Fund. He also consulted for the Global Health Workforce Alliance, World Health Organization, the World Bank, and other regional and international organizations.

Piya previously worked at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, World Health Organization, and Harvard University.  Piya received his M.D. from Mahidol University, his Master’s degree from the London School of Economics and his doctoral degree from Harvard School of Public Health.
