Bilingual Children Reading English
(Mandarin-English bilinguals, 4-6 years old)
Co-Investigators: Dr Aine Ito and Steve Paquin
Description
Your child is invited to participate in an English reading experiment. This experiment will use eye-tracking to study your child’s reading. If your child is selected for the study, they will participate in a reading assessment, two reading lessons, and an eye-tracking experiment. During the eye-tracking experiment, your child will visit the psycholinguistics lab and read aloud a series of English words presented on a computer screen.
For participating, your child will receive a small toy of their choice, and you will receive the results of their reading assessment. This experiment takes place over four days in one week and includes the following:
- 15 minute English reading assessment
- Lesson A: 30 minutes of English reading instruction
- Lesson B: 20 minutes of English reading instruction
- 20-30 minute eye-tracking experiment with post-test.
Only those selected for the experiment will receive an email invitation. If you have any questions, please contact Steve Paquin at steven.paquin@u.nus.edu.
