Eye-tracking experiment
(native Chinese, non-native English speakers)

Description

We would like to invite you to participate in an eye-tracking experiment where you view some images and listen to sentences in English. After the eye-tracking experiment, you will be asked to do a quick vocabulary test in English. The experiment will be conducted in the psycholinguistics lab in AS5-02-04 between May – August 2023.

Eligibility

To participate in this experiment, you must meet the following criteria:
– You are an NUS student and between 18-35 years old, OR you are not an NUS student and between 21-35 years old
– You speak Chinese as the only native language and speak English as a non-native language
– You are from China (born and raised in Mainland China)
– You do not have any language or neurological disorder
– You have normal vision (or corrected-to-normal vision) and normal hearing, and you do not wear hard contact lenses or overnight contact lenses

 

 

Eye-Tracking Study

We are looking for adults (18-30 years old) to take part in our research project in our lab.

We are interested in understanding how English as first language speakers understand language during sentence processing. You will be looking at some pictures and listening to some sentences. You will participate in one session, lasting approximately 30 minutes to 45 minutes, and you will be reimbursed with S$15 per hour for your time.

You are eligible for our study if:
1. English is your first language, and you are raised and born in Singapore;
2. Your short-sightedness is not over 800 degrees, and you wear glasses or soft contact lenses (not hard contact lenses) OR You have perfect eyesight;
3. You do not have any language or neurological disorder.
