Background and current projects

Min Li used to be a master student of MBCNCS. She has a background in materials engineering from her undergraduate studies, where she delved into the study of metal halide chalcogenides for the photocatalytic anaerobic oxidation of aromatic alcohols coupled with hydrogen production. Her undergraduate research also spanned various environmental disciplines, including hydrology and the study of phytoplankton, zooplankton, and benthos, contributing to a multifaceted understanding of aquatic ecosystems. Based on her interest in materials, energy, and ecology, she chose to study in this interdisciplinary master’s program. She did her master research project at the Freshwater and Invasion Biology Laboratory. Her work specifically focused on the entrapment capabilities of two different sizes and types of microplastics by Singapore’s freshwater macrophytes, namely Hydrilla verticillata and Mayaca fluviatilis.

As she concluded her master’s studies, she has also fostered an enduring interest in continuing her exploration of this pivotal environmental issue. She  wants to further her study into the implications and dynamics of microplastic pollution in aquatic environments during her PhD. study.
