Background and current projects

Currently, I am MSc student working on conservation genomics of critically endangered freshwater decapods in Singapore, particularly looking at population genomics of the Singapore freshwater crab and the swamp forest crab. Understanding the genetic background and population genomics of these threatened crabs will inform future conservation strategies such as reintroduction and ex-situ breeding efforts.

During my undergraduate days, I studied the population genomics of a migrant shorebird, the common redshank (Tringa totanus), across a time series at the Avian Evolution Lab. I also spent my last year of my undergraduate life studying the trophic ecology of the last freshwater swamp in Singapore (Nee Soon Swamp Forest). Through these experiences, my interests have also expanded to freshwater decapod ecology and conservation biology. I spent some time as a research assistant under the Biomanipulation project and was in-charge of fish ecology and fish gut content analysis.
