Areas of interest

Freshwater gastropods; Aaquatic invasions; Freshwater ecology

Background

I began studying non-indigenous species as an undergraduate—first on the ornamental fish trade in Singapore and invasiveness of freshwater fish cultivated abroad, followed by my Honours thesis on the autecology of the feral fish, Etroplus suratensis in the coastal waters of Singapore. I then joined the Raffles Museum of Biodiversity Research with a team conducting a PUB-funded biodiversity study of Singapore’s reservoirs. I assisted Dr. Darren Yeo on a project on biological invasions in tropical Asia for a short while in mid-2011.

After my PhD, I took up a postdoctoral project investigating the current status of native freshwater apple snails of the genus Pila, and impacts of the introduced Pomacea spp. in Thailand

Current projects

I am now a museum officer in the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum.
