Announcement: 2011 ASEAN-Korea Multimedia Competition

The ASEAN-Korea Centre launches the 2011 ASEAN-Korea Multimedia Competition for young artists including university/graduate students of ASEAN and Korea. The Competition is organized to provide a channel of exchanges and to enhance mutual understanding between the young generation of ASEAN and Korea through new media.

The theme, FUTURE IMAGE illustrates ASEAN’s today and tomorrow’s contemporary image and suggests a new conformity of its art and culture in this global society. It aims to be a cultural platform for the young communities of ASEAN and Korea to overcome the standardized image of ASEAN and to pursue a new and contemporary language of the art in ASEAN as the nexus of today’s digital community.

Selected artists will be presented with opportunities to introduce artworks to the contemporary art circles in Asia. The winners residing in ASEAN countries (up to two individuals per team) will be invited to Korea for seminar and exhibition, with provision of airfare, accommodation and daily allowance for 4 nights, 5 days, as well as a cash prize of up to 300USD. Winners will be announced on their website on 13 June 2011.

Call for Application: APL (Asia Pacific Leaders) Education Programme 2011

We are offering 2 scholarship positions where tuition fees, housing/accommodation with breakfast and all field trips are paid for. Call for Application: ANU Asia Pacific Week (APW)

The Australian National University (ANU) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the ANU Asia Pacific Week (APW) from 10 July to 14 July this year. The event will bring together over 100 of the best students and top academics from Australia and around the world in public panels, seminars and breakout sessions on issues of importance in the Asia Pacific.

ANU Asia Pacific Week is an initiative of students from the ANU College of Asia & the Pacific. Among other events, ANU APW will incorporate the prestigious China Update, a Q&A style forum on the future of the Asia Pacific between students and academics, a flagship conference panel on the transformation of political and economic power in Asia and a closing address at Parliament house by the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Kevin Rudd.

Leading figures expected to participate in ANU APW include: Peter Drysdale, Hugh White, Yiping Huang, Deborah Brautigan, Andrew MacIntyre, Gareth Evans, Kent Anderson, Veronica Taylor, Luigi Tomba, Nicholas Farrelly, Jane Golley and Stephen Howes.

Delegates will be selected based on a brief online application. Applications open March 7th 2011 and will close on April 21st 2011.

INNOVATE 2011 – Now open for applications

NUS students may now apply for INNOVATE 2011: China, which will take place between 5 to 15 March 2011 in the major Chinese cities of Beijing, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai.

INNOVATE is an international academic conference for undergraduate and graduate students that examines the relationship between technology, globalization, and leadership in the contemporary marketplace. Through company site visits and meetings with key business, academic, and government leaders, INNOVATE will help prepare delegates to become tomorrow’s industry leaders.

 Cost for NUS Delegates

NUS delegates for INNOVATE 2011 will pay a conference fee of USD $1,900 (approx. SGD $ 2,500) which includes:

  • All INNOVATE company site tours & related program events
  • Included cultural tours or special events as indicated in the conference itinerary
  • Double-occupancy accommodation and daily breakfast in China
  • Airport transfers to/from hotel in China (if arriving at same time as U.S. group flight)
  • Daily breakfast, all lunches, and most dinners
  • Ground transportation abroad to all conference sites and events
  • Tips for tour guides & bus drivers

*Please note that the conference fee does not include airfare from Singapore to China and back. Successful applicants may be eligible for financial aid of up to SGD $500 from the NUS International Relations Office.

Founded in 1872 and currently located in the 7th arondissement of Paris, Sciences Po Paris is a highly selective and respected “Grand Établissement” that has traditionally educated France’s political and diplomatic elite, but whose academic focus now encompasses law, communications, finance, business, urban policy, management, and journalism, in addition to the political and economic sciences.  Courses are taught in both French and English.  See their website for more information http://www.sciencespo.fr/en/
