Sciences Po, Paris, Master Programme Briefing Session

The Institut d’études politiques de Paris simply referred to as Sciences Po, Paris, is a public research and higher education institution in Paris, France, which specializes in social sciences. Internationally well ranked (214 by QS World University Rankings 2013), Sciences Po is highly regarded both locally and internally.

In terms of collaborations with NUS, Sciences Po Paris has been one of the long standing partner universities for SEP since AY1999/2000. The Institute is also collaborating with NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy to offer a Double Degree programme under the Global Public Policy Network framework.

Ms. Regine Serra, Academic Director of Sciences Po Master programme “Governing the Large Metropolis” will be in NUS on the 31 Oct to speak to NUS students about Sciences Po’s Master programmes in urban studies. The Programme is welcoming students with a strong interest in large metropolis and their governance issues. With focuses on public policy and urban sociology, the programme will provide the students with a professional training. Students with a social science, humanities, engineering or architecture background may find the programme interesting. IRO is glad to inform you that we will be organizing an information session on the various international programmes to China.  China has emerged as the world’s second largest economy.  With its rapid growth and development, the information session aims to encourage more NUS students to experience China through the programmes offered by the Office of Vice President (University & Global Relations), International Relations Office and NUS Overseas Colleges.

There will be a sharing session by Mr Koh Chin Yee, Director (Asia),  Office of the Vice President (University & Global Relations), on the developments in China.  The topics to be covered in this session include the general facts in China, China Economic Outlook, China Industrial Development and Opportunities.  Participants can look forward to information on Study Trips for Engagement and Enrichment (STEER), Student Exchange Programme (SEP), Temasek Foundation Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking (TF-LEaRN), International Summer (i-SP), International Internship (i-intern), International Research Attachment (i-RAP) and Full year internship programmes in China.  Returnees will also share about their experiences and the key take-away in these programmes.

Business China Youth Chapter – China Learning Journey

BUSINESS CHINA YOUTH CHAPTER – CHINA LEARNING JOURNEY (13 – 22 DEC 2012; BEIJING)

Participate in the China Learning Journey organised by Business China (www.businesschina.org.sg/en.php) this December to gain a holistic view of the business environment in this Asian economic giant, while building new friendships and networks.

Taking place in the capital city of Beijing, highlights of the trip include visits to large companies (Singapore-owned, China-owned or joint-ventures), the Tianjin Eco-City and historical monuments. Participants will also engage their peers from Chinese universities (Peking University, Tsinghua University, University of International Business and Economics) in student forums, on a wide variety of topics ranging from politics to the arts.

China Learning Journey Fact Sheet

1. What is the programme fee?

The programme fee of SGD 600 is heavily subsidised by Business China and China Hanban.  It includes airfare, ground transport, accommodation and most meals. Participants will be responsible for insurance, visa fees (if any) and personal expenses.

2. Am I eligible to participate?

  • This programme is open to Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents only.
  • Undergraduates who are currently in Year 2 and above of their studies at NUS.
  • Must not be graduating at the end of this semester.
  • Have a CAP of 3.5 and above.
  • Strong interest and knowledge about China-related issues preferred.

3. How do I apply?

Complete the attached IRO application form and email it to irojt@nus.edu.sg by 12 noon on Monday, 29 October 2012.  Attach a copy of your latest unofficial NUS transcript.  Additional supporting documents showing your participation in events (and interest) on China-related issues will be helpful to your application.  Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Kwansei Gakuin University receives MEXT Global 30 Plus Grant

Congratulations to Kwansei Gakuin University, our faculty level partner university, for being awarded the MEXT Global 30 Plus Grant!

Kwansei Gakuin University has been selected by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as a recipient for the Project for Promotion of Global Human Resource Development (Global 30 Plus) Grant.

KGU was chosen for Type-A funding by the government to establish university-wide initiatives to bring more students abroad, create competent world citizens, and to act as a role-model for other universities to follow.
