Job Title Intern for Non-Ferrous Metal Department

In Non-Ferrous Metals, besides trading in aluminium ingots and products, the department harnesses the aluminium value chain by participating in upstream manufacturing operations. The department markets aluminium ingots and billets to various customers in the Asian market and are constantly looking into increasing their participation in the upstream operations to enhance our aluminium value chain.

We are seeking applicants who have a desire to adapt and learn about the business. Selected candidate will have the opportunity to learn about the business processes, be involved in projects and meetings with both internal and external stakeholders and gain real-world experience that is valuable and practical beyond their academia.

Your Role

  • Assist Manager in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Project to improve work efficiency to the current workflow
  • Understand the current business work flow to identify opportunities for process automation
  • Collaborate and communicate with system provider(s) and internal stakeholders to develop and test the RPA system
  • Support in the “End-to-end” marketing activities include (but not limited to) seeking out and liaising with suppliers, negotiating and concluding contracts with customers, handling operational issues, claims/complaints, and collection of payments.
  • Tabulate and analyze market data for Reporting purpose.

Essential Skills

  • Education: 3rd Year/ Final Year Student
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to details, excellent level of accuracy and self-starter with good learning mindset
  • Good oral, written communication skills and active listening skills.
  • Able to work effectively independently with minimal supervision and with other team members
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access

Job Title Intern for Internal Audit Office

Location Singapore

The Internal Audit (IA) Office performs audit of SC Group companies/affiliates in the Asia & Oceania region, with the primary objective of assessing the effectiveness and adequacy of internal controls design and implementation to mitigating risks; and providing suitable recommendations to address any gaps identified.

As an IA Intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in at least one overseas internal audit project, and experience the full internal audit process from planning to execution and reporting. Due to a wide audit scope, the intern may gain insight to a varied array of audit/risk areas (e.g. Credit risk, FX risk, Finance, Accounting, Legal, HR, IT, etc.), as well as insights to the target auditee’s industry, business and operations.

Your Role

  1. Support the Audit Team in the planning, executing, and reporting phases of IA Project(s) as assigned
  • Conduct research on the auditee’s business environment; country, industry, business model, etc.
  • Assist with the audit planning process including considerations around compliance and business risk, amongst others.
  • For overseas audit project assigned, participate in the full audit process [Note 1].
  • Timely execution of audit work program under the guidance of senior members.
  • Collate evidence and data on areas relevant to audit for analysis and reporting purpose.
  • Administrative duties as assigned.
  1. Perform Ad-hoc Projects
  • Under guidance, execute projects to improve the effectiveness/efficiency of IA Office’s audit processes.
  • Initiate studies and proposals for projects towards the betterment of the IA Office and SCAO Organisation.

In participation of overseas audit project, the Intern will get to experience the full audit process, which includes:

  • Meetings and interviews to understand the stakeholder’s business, operating strategy and critical processes functions within each department, including system and process design.
  • Identify and understand existing risks, and evaluate if the control system and design adequately address those risks.
  • Review of evidences to validate if the controls were well implemented and executed as intended.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, and risks present but unaddressed by existing control systems and processes.
  • Provide suitable recommendations/solutions to address control gaps and/or improvement opportunities, and present to stakeholders.

Preparation of draft reports and audit documentation.

Essential Skills

  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills. Logical thinking analysis is required.
  • Good communication skills, both verbally and in writing (English). Able to clearly articulate thought process and key points to audiences.
  • Possess strong initiative and self-motivation with good learning mindset.
  • Able to work independently and within a team to complete project assignments within deadline.
  • Willing to travel overseas for audit assignments (travel period: 5-14 days) within Asia.

We are seeking applicants who have a desire to adapt and learn the multiple businesses within SCAO, which will help develop an interdisciplinary perspective. Selected candidate will work with the audit team and learn the business processes and risks of the company’s operations, gaining valuable and practical experience beyond the academia.
