To align with my teaching philosophy, specifically its emphasis on transparency and clear communication of expectations, I give students all course documents in advance. These include the syllabus (basically outlines what the course is all about), a full description of continuous assessments (combined, worth 70 % of the final grade), all rubrics (outline the criteria I use to evaluate their work).
I also provide a schedule of topics (weekly breakdown of what we will cover / do with our time and recommended readings) – a document that isn’t set in stone like the other three because I reserve the right to make slight changes – after all, scholarly knowledge is evolving all the time.
