a simple hello

Hello! I am Rachel Lim and welcome to my blog.

about me

By nature, I’m someone who loves to spend frankly absurd amounts of time observing and analyzing (mostly fictional) people. I like trying to work out what makes them tick, and how and why they became this way. On the rare occasion that I shift my attention away from the characters in dramas, I find myself tied up in introspection. Perhaps it stemmed from meeting my peers in BES and realizing how vastly different our commitment to environmentalism was, even in this small community of environmentally focused individuals, but recently I found myself starting to think more about my commitment to environmentalism.

And that brought me to the question: why am I not doing more?

theme

Among all the things to do with environmentalism, sustainable living has become one of the most high-profile and ‘trendy’ ones. Almost as if it had been unanimously selected to be the cover model of environmentalism, it has permeated the media and by extension, our lives. But despite all the attention surrounding it, not many seem to be willing to adopt a sustainable lifestyle. Hence in this blog, I plan to discuss the reasons why people are resistant to switching to a sustainable lifestyle, and how they may be linked to underlying problems in society. As someone toeing the line myself, I intend to have my posts be a reflection on society as well as myself.

At the end of it, I hope I, and my readers, will be more conscious of what living conscientiously involves.

I’ve been Rachel Lim, signing off 🙂
