Podcasting in NUS

Following a trial in the previous semester, podcasts have been made available for all webcast lectures beginning in 2006. CIT enabled this seamless transition into podcasting by modifying existing webcast infrastructure and software.

Podcast lectures allow students to subscribe to an RSS feed, which in turn enables automatic downloads of the latest audio lectures once they are made available. Thus, students can listen to the latest lectures on their mobile media devices without constantly checking for updates on IVLE.

As at the time of writing, 45 modules are being podcasted. We encourage all lecturers to use this service as it benefits the students by making your lectures available to them wherever they can bring their portable audio players.

Enabling podcast lectures is simple: apply for a webcast as you normally would. By default, the podcasting option is enabled.
