Development of Singapore Speech Audiometry Materials in English, Mandarin and Malay.
Speech audiometry should always be conducted using appropriate test materials in the native language of the listener. After reviewing existing speech audiometry materials and identifying their limitations, we began the process of developing speech audiometry materials in 3 of the 4 official languages in Singapore, with words that are familiar to the local population and spoken by local native speakers. The test materials have been developed with inputs from linguists and leading speech audiometry expert in the region. The phonemically balanced word lists are currently in the process of being validated.
