Esther graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and the Media. She made a mid-career switch and went on to pursue a two-year postgraduate study at Macquarie University, Sydney Australia, where she graduated with a Master of Clinical Audiology in 2014. It was also during this time that she was awarded the Macquarie University International Merit Scholarship and NSW Student Placement Scholarship. As an audiologist, Esther learnt various skills and clinical knowledge from working at both hospital and private sectors to educating teachers and parents of aided students using assistive listening devices at schools. She was also certified as a Dangerous Decibels Educator in 2016, before joining NUS as a research audiologist. In 2017, Esther began her research career supporting Principal Investigator Prof William Hal Martin and other implementation leads from Singapore General Hospital and National University Hospital. The focus of her work mainly evolved around the boothless audiometry protocol which was developed and subsequently test-bedded and implemented at the project partner institutions and satellite clinics over the 4-year MOH-funded research study. She is highly involved in the research administrative role and is currently assisting the audiology team with short training courses relating to community hearing screening and boothless hearing testing.
