Maureen graduated from the National University of Singapore with an MSc (Audiology) in 2015. She began as a clinical tutor in the Paediatric Audiology module of the NUS MSc Audiology program shortly after, whilst doing full-time clinical work at the National University Hospital managing paediatric patients. Her clinical subspecialties include paediatric diagnostics using behavioural hearing tests and electrophysiology testing, and management of hearing loss with hearing amplification including cochlear implants and implantable devices. She also had experience in the diagnosis and management of central auditory processing disorder. In 2019, she was appointed as an Adjunct Instructor in the MSc Audiology program and in 2021, started lecturing in Paediatric Audiology.
She was also involved in other teaching activities including the teaching of the ongoing Adult Hearing Screening course, the Educational Audiology module developed for National Institute of Education (NIE) teachers, a teaching workshop for Mayflower school teachers on Hearing Aids and Cochlear Implants, and lectures for ENT resident doctors and medical officers on Paediatric Audiology Hearing tests and Rehabilitation.
Maureen’s teaching philosophy centres on bringing her passion for caring for her patients and their families, from “clinic into classroom” and through her core experience of real-life clinical cases.
