The Highly Cited Researchers 2022 list uses both quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify individuals from across the globe who have demonstrated significant and broad influence in their chosen field or fields of research. These highly cited papers rank in the top 1% by citations for a field or fields and publication year in the Web of Science™. Of the world’s population of scientists and social scientists, Highly Cited Researchers™ are 1 in 1,000. This year, 7,225 researcher awards (issued to 6,938 individuals) from 69 countries and regions were announced – 3,981 in specific fields and 3,244 for cross-field impact.
