Lab director: Dr. Kate Sangwon Lee

Dr. Kate Sangwon Lee is a lecturer at the Engineering Design and Innovation Centre (EDIC) within the College of Design and Engineering (CDE) at the National University of Singapore. Dr. Lee is a researcher and educator specializing in human-computer interaction (HCI) and creating sustainable and valuable products through human-centered design. With a career that spans academia and industry, she brings her practical expertise as a User Experience (UX) designer and Product Manager at Naver and SK Telecom, two top tech companies in South Korea. Her research focuses on the ethics and responsibility of social platforms, proposing inclusive products. One of them is her current project, the Digital Twin system, which aims to propose an occupant-centric and transparent AI-powered system by adopting the notion of “Human-In-The-Loop.” Dr. Lee teaches AI UX and UI design courses at EDIC and supervises students’ industry collaboration projects with National Gallery Singapore, NUH, P&G, MOHT, and so on.

Teaching Team of CDE5311 Essential Skills in AI UX and UI Design: Mijin Choi

Mijin Choi is a teaching assistant at the Engineering Design and Innovation Centre (EDIC), holding a Master of Science in Engineering Design and Innovation. Mijin’s journey in engineering design began as a UX researcher at the Human-Computer Interaction Lab at Hanyang University. Following graduation, Mijin joined the Apple Developer Academy @POSTECH, gaining hands-on experience in mobile design and development. To date, she has contributed to over five apps released on the App Store. During her MSc studies, she deepened her expertise by completing courses in Critical Design, Systems Engineering, and Human Factors in Engineering and Design. Beyond her work, Mijin is an active member of the iOS and design community. She contributes articles to Bootcamp and UX Collective via Medium, sharing insights and research in design and engineering. Additionally, Mijin serves as a Notion Ambassador, further showcasing her dedication to fostering knowledge-sharing and productivity in creative spaces.

Teaching Team of CDE5311 Essential Skills in AI UX and UI Design: Eda Yasmin Asni 

Eda Yasmin Asni is a teaching assistant for CDE5311 Essential Skills in AI UX and UI Design and a final-year Industrial Design undergraduate at NUS, specializing in product innovation. She is currently working on her thesis, which focuses on designing tools to reduce the cognitive load of informal caregivers who work from home.

Eda has worked on branding, service design, and illustration projects. She is an Illustrator under the Communication Design Hub, where she works with NUS Cities in their quarterly newsletter. She completed a six-month internship with GovTech, where she gained experience in user research and systems thinking. Passionate about education, she also teaches engineering and coding to young children, fostering creativity and innovation.
