Frequently Asked Questions

Who can read my ePortfolio?

While you are enrolled in USR4002a, your ePortfolio will be accessible to any blog.nus user whenever the page or post is in “published” mode. This is the most feasible option that allows your USR classmates to view your site and collaborate. If you want to keep the entire ePortfolio or specific pages private either until it is ready or make it accessible only to specific individuals, you will need to keep the pages private or password protect them (at the page level). You will normally supply the password to those whom you wish to grant access to.

Once the semester is over and you have received your grade for USR, privacy control will be handed over to you. At that time you will be able to select any of the site visibility options available.

Why can’t I change the site visibility options on my ePortfolio?

While you are enrolled in USR4002/NHS4001, your faculty-in- charge controls all student
ePortfolios’ privacy options. This is to safeguard the privacy of all students, while
ensuring that students can still collaborate with each on the portfolios should the instructor decide there is need for this.

What happens to my ePortfolio after USR4002/NHS4001?

Once you have received your grade for USR, you will receive an email from your faculty-in-charge informing you that the privacy control of your ePortfolio have been released to you. Your ePortfolio will be set to “public” access at that point which means that it is viewable to anybody on the internet. You may choose to do a few things then:

1) Leave it set to “public” access.
2) Choose to have it accessible only to the NUS community. To do so, select “Visitors must have a login”
3) Choose to keep your ePortfolio private

We encourage you to choose option 1 as sharing your ePortfolio not only benefits your juniors but contributes to the USP identity and sense of community.

Your ePortfolio will continued to be hosted on blog.nus for a year after you graduate. After that time, you will have to export it to another WordPress-enabled site should you wish to continue maintaining it.

I initially chose to keep my ePortfolio public/viewable to the NUS community but would now like to change the site visibility setting. Can I do so?

Yes, you can. You still have administrative control over your ePortfolio regardless of the site visibility option you choose and can this change your site visibility setting at any time. We ask, however, that you email us to let us know before you do so.

I would like to make my ePortfolio public/accessible to the NUS community but have some sensitive content on it. Can I remove such content before making my site accessible?

Yes, you can. Just remove whatever content you see fit. You still have administrative control over your ePortfolio regardless of the site visibility option you choose. So even if you choose to keep your site ‘public’ or viewable by the NUS community, you can edit it at any point

Can I export my ePortfolio to another WordPress-enabled site?

Yes, you can do so at any point after the privacy control has been handed over to you.

Can I continue updating and/or change the content of my ePortfolio after USR4002/NHS4001?

Yes, you can do so but only after the privacy control has been handed over to you. Once you have received your USR grade and the privacy control of the ePortfolio has been released, you have total administrative control over your ePortfolio.

The privacy control of my ePortfolio has not been handed to me but I would like to show it to someone outside of USP (e.g. potential employer, professor from my home department. etc). Can I do so?

The safest way to do so is for you to log in, and then let them view your site on the same desktop. You can also give them your blog.nus usename and password so that they can log into your site but that is discouraged as you may lose control over your site.
