The Department of Economics, National University of Singapore and National University of Singapore – Institute of Operations Research and Analytics are holding a 4-day event on applied structural econometrics, consisting of a 3-day course on the 9th – 11th of May and a 1-day workshop on the 12th of May.

Structural econometrics combines economic theory with statistics, which makes it particularly useful for counterfactual studies in economics and related fields. The aim of the course is to provide an overview of structural econometrics and illustrate its capabilities through various applications.

The course will be delivered by Professor Robert Miller and Dr Aaron Barkley. Professor Miller will be giving lectures in the morning and Dr Barkley will run computing sessions in the afternoon to complement. Bring your laptop for a hands-on experience (based on this). We expect the course to be of interest to graduate students and scholars in economics and related disciplines such as quantitative marketing and operations research.

Professor Miller is an authority in the field of structural econometrics with numerous seminal contributions on the analysis of dynamic discrete choice models. He is also the keynote speaker at the workshop. The goal of the workshop is to explore new methods and applications in structural econometrics, highlighting the growing number of scholars in the Asia-Pacific region using structural approach in their research.
