We hope that everyone is coping well in Week 13! To make this dreadful week feel better, we’d like to remind everyone of some fun that happened in Week 8 in RVRC!

From the 10th to the 12th of October 2019, residents took part in the RVRC Inter-House Games (IHG). Kicking off with the e-sports on the 10th, we witnessed Panthera winning both DOTA and FIFA, while Strix was crowned champions for International Chess.

The sports events took place on the 12th, and the morning event saw Panthera dominate once again, reaching the finals for all 3 sports. While they had the bragging rights after winning Captain’s Ball, they were unfortunate to come out on the wrong end of two closely fought finals. After losing to Chelonia in Tchoukball after extra time, they were upset by Rusa in the deciding game for Dodgeball. For the afternoon session, Panthera were once again winners for Floorball, while Football and Frisbee saw Aonyx and Chelonia winning respectively.

Finally, Chelonia grabbed the honours for the track events, winning both the men’s and women’s 4x100m relay. They were on course for the 4x400m mixed relay gold, but a stunning run from Aonyx’s final runner Choi Min Suk saw them being crowned champions instead.

With Panthera having dominated both the e-sports and sports events, they were crowned overall IHG champions. However, there was a close fight for the remaining places, with Chelonia finishing just above Strix and Rusa, who were joint-third. This event also marked the final IHG for our college master, Professor Adekunle Adeyeye, who will be leaving the college at the end of the year. Overall, the houses had fun competing and supporting their athletes at IHG, while being on track to prepare for the upcoming Inter-College Games.

“I was very fortunate to be able to plan and organise IHG’19 together with the CSC and it has been a very enriching experience for me. I thoroughly enjoyed myself during the entire planning process and it really gave me a sense of accomplishment to witness the success that comes from all of our efforts. Special thanks to College Master, Mr Desmond and everyone in the IHG Committee who made this event possible!!” -Goh Rui Zhi, Project Director of IHG

With that, we hope that this was able to remind y’all of the good ol’ days when we didn’t have that much stress over our finals and submissions! As always, let us know if you have any comments in the comment section below!

Till then, #ridgeviewblogs
