Didn’t manage to wake up in time for breakfast and you’re too lazy to walk out for lunch? Want to start that #healthylife but desperately want a snack when all you have are chips and instant noodles?
Good news guys, with the guidance of Ms. May, some of RV’s finest resident chefs have come together to assemble a recipe book to help all of us achieve our inner (junior) Gordon Ramsey! The book contains 10 recipes are hugely versatile and can be served as your lunch, supper or your snack at 4am after you’ve finished studying(?) for the day! (Please sleep early, guys) These recipes are also extremely easy to follow which require only some simple ingredients to put together!
The recipe book is in a pdf format that is available at the end of the post. Be sure to download yourself a copy! Additionally, a physical copy of the recipe book is also available at every pantry for your reference! Grab a bunch of your friends in RV in the next semester and try these recipes out when you can! The pantries in every block are well equipped with facilities for you guys to whip up some dishes together! My personal favorites are definitely the mango sago and mushroom soup! Why spend $5 – $7 outside when you can have mango sago in 15 minutes in RV?? I do love me a good bargain.
If you’re worried about the costs of the groceries, ask your friends along to try cooking as well and share the costs! Not only will this make cooking more cost efficient but also a lot more fun when you guys are doing it together and cry about the memories you will make (don’t worry, just say it’s the onions you’re cutting) (‘:
You can also try and get creative by using things available to you in the dining hall! Don’t like mango sago? Try swapping it out with some cooked down apples and pears from Dining Hall (DH)! Not enough flavor in the vegetables from DH’s dinner? Bring back some, store it and add condiments and spices to your liking along with some noodles for a stir-fry! Same goes for meats! The possibilities are endless; explore all the different things you can do and when you’re ready, you can move on from the recipe book to more challenging recipes!
On a final note, please take care of yourself while handling the kitchen equipment and get a friend to help if you can! A little tip from yours truly is to season your food as you go! You can always add a little more seasoning to under seasoned food, but you can’t take it away once you’ve added too much! Be sure to flex your dishes on Instagram a little when you’re done because it only happened if you gram it (:
Hopefully this won’t be you(?)
Bon Appetit!
