The Hospitality Solution Centre (hsc@RP) operates from within the Republic Polytechnic (RP) School of Hospitality (SOH), to build up expertise and act as a knowledge repository of hospitality management and operation best practices. HSC’s objective is to support the industry to raise productivity levels and competitiveness in attracting and retaining Singaporean talent.

HSC has worked with the hospitality industry on various consultancy and applied research projects (e.g. housekeeping, service and queue system efficiencies, front office operations improvement, mystery shopping surveys for the consumer industry, feasibility studies for the spa and wellness industry, etc.).

Partners in these projects were Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Village Hotel Katong, Sentosa Leisure Group, Millennium Copthorne, Far East Hospitality, Crowne Plaza Changi Hotel and Spa and Wellness Association of Singapore. HSC will cover other hospitality sectors, such as Meeting, Incentive, Convention & Events (MICE), health and wellness, food and beverage and services.

HSC is well positioned to support the industry through its wide range of training facilities at the polytechnic campus. These facilities simulate real world work spaces for our students to learn within and can be easily adapted to serve as labs for research and development purposes for the industry. HSC also works with other schools and centres in RP to extend its ability to deliver turnkey and holistic solutions operating as a one-stop solution centre to industry partners.

Celine Quek

Senior Lecturer, Republic Poly

Celine Quek, an effective, bilingual and experienced professional, has spent more than 25 years in the hospitality industry specializing in both Commercial and Operations discipline.  She started her hospitality career in Food and Beverage, and has moved into Sales & Marketing, Reservations, Front Office Operations and Revenue Management in property, cluster and corporate environment in Asia.

Prior to joining Republic Polytechnic, she was with Travelodge Hotels Asia holding the position of VP, Revenue and Distribution, as well as VP, Business Systems and Solutions. During her tenure with Travelodge, she spearheaded the automation of the annual business and operation plan and lead foundation set up of the commercial functions including Revenue Management, Distribution, Sales and Marketing and assist pre-opening of 13 hotels within 3 years.

Detlev Remy

Singapore Institute of Technology

Dr. Remy works at the Singapore Institute of Technology, SIT, Singapore. He is teaching Revenue Management, Data Analytics and Digital Marketing whilst researching on Pricing and Revenue Management related topics. Before that he was the Program Manager for the Bachelor of Business Administration program at

Les Roches, Laureate Universities, teaching (and researching on) marketing-related subject areas and revenue management to Bachelor and MBA students.

Additionally he has started his own consultancy business, “Remy Consult”, advising international beverage, tourism and hospitality businesses, and providing executive education to a variety of stakeholders.

Dr. Remy holds a Masters in Marketing from University College Cork, Ireland (2007), and a doctorate (DBA) from the University of Surrey, UK, (2014). His research interests are revenue management, digital marketing, and data analytics. He has published in international journals, and attend regularly academic conferences to present papers.

Dr. Remy is also regularly invited to attend major Revenue and Pricing conferences, giving speeches on revenue management related topics, additionally he is giving guest lectures in marketing and other subject areas to other educational organisations, for example to Latvian Universities and German hotel schools.

Heidi Gempel

Managing Partner and Founder of HGE International

Heidi is an expert for Revenue Management, Sales & Marketing and Hotel Distribution across Asia Pacific, Indian Ocean, Middle East and Africa with 15 years’ experience. Her expertise includes the technical aspects of customizing Revenue Management and Hotel Distribution systems, as well as the organizational & cultural set up of Revenue Management within an organization.

Heidi has a deep conviction that understanding & applying the purpose and identity of a person/department/organization builds and sustains successful companies, its services and financial targets. She is passionate about creating value with purpose for her clients, building internal capability that allow intentions to become reality around the concepts of Innovation and Design Thinking. She founded HGE International in 2010 and the company has since served ExxonMobil Asia Pacific, Mothercare Singapore, Atlas Sound and Vision, The Okura Hotel Bangkok, and others to apply Design Thinking methodology and Innovation concepts to ensure continuous revenue growth. He was recognized as a specialist in independent & alternative accommodation businesses; such as family-owned chains, resorts, casinos, budget hotels, holiday parks, villas & serviced apartments.

After graduating from Cesar Ritz Colleges in Switzerland, he spent a decade working in both independent & leading brands; namely, Hilton Americas, Meritus Hotels & Resorts & Pan Pacific Hotels Group.

Judith Cartwright

Limin Cheng

Director of Revenue Management,  Raffles Hotel-Singapore

With more than 10 years of experience and an unwavering passion for the hospitality industry, Limin started her career with the Raffles Hotels and Resorts corporate office in distribution and revenue management between 2006 to 2011. In particular, she enjoyed working on the pre-opening strategies for Raffles properties in Paris, Seychelles, Tianjin and Makkah. Thereafter, she spent almost 8 years working in the revenue management department for the iconic Marina Bay Sands – optimizing revenue for 2,561 rooms with an annual hotel revenue of SGD 500 million. In her recent position as Director of Revenue and Distribution Management, she led a team of 11 people driving the analytics, optimization and distribution strategies for this amazing property. She was most excited in being part of the strategy to pioneer function space optimization for the SGD 100 million annual revenue at the Sands Expo Convention Centre.

Having been a blessed beneficiary of wonderful mentors throughout her career, she remains faithful in constantly nurturing and mentoring revenue and distribution professionals of the future.

In 2019 – 2020, Limin enjoyed a year-long sabbatical while maintaining her volunteer involvement with HSMAI Singapore, the HSMAI Asia Pacific Revenue Advisory board and the Alumni Board for the Blue Mountains Hotel School.

In July 2020, Limin rejoint her hospitality home, Raffles Hotel Singapore as Director of Revenue and Raffle Service – overseeing the revenue optimization strategies of all areas at the iconic Raffles Hotel Singapore including Rooms, Restaurants, Bars, Banquets, Spa and Boutique.

Pallavi Nirula Nath

Pallavi is a dynamic pricing and yield management expert by education. Her hospitality business family background ingrained in her the fundamentals of running an enterprise from a very early age.

She was amongst the first few proponents of Revenue Management in the Asian Hospitality industry and has served on the Executive Committee of leading hotel chains in Singapore and has overseen regional businesses for global hotel management companies. In 2007, Pallavi founded Revmax(www.revmaxtec.com), which started as a hospitality consultancy and elearning firm. She is an Singapore ACTA Certified trainer – industry and training medium agnostic.

She is currently the CPO and CEO Asia at Kïdo (https://kidoholdings.com)- Kïdo Schools( master franchisors and operators of premium international pre-school chains in UK, US, Asia (incl India) and Middle East), Kïdo Village (micro neighbourhood preschools), Kïdo Home (global virtual preschool)

Pallavi holds a bachelors degree with Honours in Economics from St Stephen’s college(Delhi University) and an MMH (Hospitality MBA) from Cornell University. She is a Black Belt Shodan in Karate and is currently based in Singapore.

Puneet Mahindroo

In a career spanning over 20 years in the hospitality industry, Puneet has worked in various hotel and corporate level roles in Marketing, Revenue Management and Distribution. He was responsible for the implementation of several strategic projects – ranging from Performance Marketing, New Hotel and Restaurant openings, Sales Systems, Automated Revenue Management System, Revenue Management Education, Pricing Reforms and implementation of Distribution Platforms for brands such a Four Seasons, Taj Hotels Resorts Palaces and Safaris and InterContinental Hotel Group.

Puneet is also involved in various industry-wide initiatives. He served as the Asia Pacific Chair to the HSMAI Revenue Management Advisory Board and Asia Pacific Chair on the Board of Directors of Hotel Electronic Distribution Networking Association (HEDNA). Puneet also served as a member of the Leading Hotels of the World International Rooms, Revenue Management and Distribution Advisory Board.

Puneet has investments in several successful Restaurant and Bar projects that have established themselves among the most successful brands and gives him a first-hand insight as a quintessential entrepreneur.

Rouble Goswami

Vice President, Revenue Strategy, Asia Pacific (excluding China), Marriott Hotels and Resorts

Rouble has 12+ years of progressive experience in all things Revenue Management. Upon graduating from hotel school in 2008, Rouble started as a Voyager at the JW Marriott Juhu in Mumbai and went on to hold hotel/cluster Revenue Management roles with Marriott Intl. in India. To broaden his horizons further, Rouble went onto join InterContinental Hotels Group in 2011 as a Cluster Director Revenue Management based out of Bangkok where he held RM & Distribution responsibilities for InterContinental resorts across Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, The Maldives & French Polynesia. Post a couple of years running these resorts, he was promoted to be an Area Director Revenue Management for IHG In Japan based out of the company’s Tokyo Headquarters. In this role, he was responsible for revenue strategy of all operating managed & franchised hotels across Japan. After a successful stint in IHG and looking to do something different from Revenue Management, Rouble rejoined Marriott Intl. at its APAC HQ in Hong Kong as Director Pricing & Analysis for Asia Pacific in 2015 and within a year & a half was promoted to form and lead Asia Pacific’s Consumer Operations Analytics team. This team was responsible for performance insights generation & communication for Senior Executives and had the charge of developing performance reporting & analytics ranging for disciplines ranging from Revenue Management, Sales, Distribution, Marketing, Brands, Digital to Loyalty. This group also played an integral part during Marriott & Starwood Integration in bringing together the data of two organizations and identifying strategic performance opportunities. It was in 2019 when Rouble was promoted to lead the charge for the discipline in APEC based out of the Regional HQ in Singapore where he lives with his wife, Preetha and dog, Ollie.

With 20 years of industry experience in Sales, Revenue Management and Distribution, Suneet has been also wide experience in new hotel openings, rebranding and revenue training. Suneet has previous experience with international companies such as InterContinental Hotels Group and Swissotel Hotels & Resorts in China and Singapore.

Tarandeep Singh

Tarandeep Singh is a seasoned hospitality professional leading the revenue management strategy and operations across India Middle East and Africa for IHG, based in Dubai (UAE) An alumnus of Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (India), he has worked with leading hotel companies in India including Taj, Oberois and Radisson hotels. Taran possesses a unique combination of successful leadership experiences in revenue management, sales and marketing, operations and feasibility/brand partner search for hotel projects. With more than wo decades of experience, he has scaled businesses and nurtured talent across range of established and emerging markets in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

He joined IHG in 2010 based out of India and established the remote RM solution (IHG Revenue) for the region. He moved to Singapore in 2014 to kick start the Data Analytics function for AMEA region and lead the data transformation journey and bringing in Tableau as a BI tool. He has also led the Manila back end operations team for IHG and has been involved in various project implementations including the latest GRS roll out for IHG. Ying Hong

Marina Bay Sands

With over a decade specializing in revenue management at large integrated resorts, Ying brings a wealth of experience in using data to communicate with different stakeholders with different objectives and priorities. Ying joint Marina Bay Sands in 2009 and was one of the pioneers of the Revenue Management team in Marina Bay Sands after spending 2 years in the Revenue Management team at The Venetian in Las Vegas. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from The School of Hospitality at Michigan State University.

Ying has progressed through the ranks of the Revenue Management team at Marina Bay Sands from Analyst to her current role as Associate Director over the last 11 years. Her notable accomplishments include overseeing the intense property management system migration in 2016, whilst running the day-to-day operations of the revenue team. She was awarded the ‘Best of the Best’ award for her contributions – an annual property-wide recognition award given to the top 1% performers within the 9,000 strong team at Marina Bay Sands.
