#ThroughTheHeart
Running short on breath? Be it metaphorical (keeping up with deadlines and mid-terms) or physical (getting from one class to another), we have a little solution for you to catch your breath!
After the half-way mark of the semester, I’m sure most of us already know our timetables like the back of our hands, along with that endless to-do list. We stop relying on signs and people to know which classrooms we are supposed to be heading towards. So, this week, our team embarked on a mini walking journey for us to see with our hearts – instead of our minds! What do we mean when we say ‘to see with our hearts’? Let us show you just how to.
Just like how you must pack your bag for class, you will need to pack an adventure bag for this little journey!
You really only need two things:
- Snacks (Highly recommended!)
- Phone camera!
Our walking journey began at the Stephen Riadyrooftop in UTown, where we enjoyed an unobstructed view of our beautiful campus, filled with lush greenery and blessed with a vibrant campus life.
Taking a moment to appreciate the simple beauty of our surroundings reminds us that life is so much more than books and exams. When we stop and remember to breathe, everything becomes much easier! At this point, you may want to bust out some snacks from your bag, find a spot on Town Green, and just take a moment to breathe in deeply. Next, go ahead – lie down on the grass, and tilt your head upwards so that you can appreciate how vast the sky above you is. Don’t all your problems seem so small suddenly? To see with our hearts, means to recognize that the world is much bigger than you are, and that there is no problem so large that you cannot solve – for the sky above you is so much larger!
Next, we move onto FASS – where many of us spend countless hours in lectures, tutorials and never-ending project meetings! Certainly we can’t delete school from our lives, but we can ensure that we make the experience more pleasant, or at least, more bearable!
For example, these study corners can be found all around FASS and they seem to fit well into the compound. But did you know that these study corners are relatively new? Just a year ago (or two), we had basic brown benches instead of these colourful and vibrant study corners! A cheerful study environment can make the ordeal a little less hard to bear… and make our hearts a little more joyful. To see with our hearts, means to be grateful for the little things like cosy furniture that help to ease the dread of studying.
Finally, we ended our mini walking journey at a rooftop of AS8! Take the elevator up to the top floor of AS8, head towards the exit door and to the rooftop. Look at how beautiful the sunset is from up here! The next time you have a late evening/night class or when you’re studying in school till late, persuade your friends to end the day with a gorgeous sunset – it can melt all the stress away. To see with our hearts, means to appreciate that there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel, and there is no bad day that won’t end!
We hope you have enjoyed our little walking journey on learning how to see with our hearts – tell us in the comments about how else we can see the world not just with our minds and eyes, but more importantly, with our hearts.
