July 12 2010 marked Commencement Day for our graduating psychology majors. To recognize our graduates’ achivements, and to celebrate their transition to an important new phase of life, staff and students got together for tea at LT12. This is the third such tea since the 2008 inaugural event.
The graduation tea kicked off at 2:30pm, and the program included speeches by Professor George Bishop, head of department, and Quek Shin Yi, one of our top graduates. Prof Bishop congratulated our graduates, and alerted them to the increasing number of career opportunities available to psychology graduates. Shin Yi thanked the staff for their mentorship over the years, while providing a tongue-in-cheek survey of the best and worst aspects of life as a NUS psych major.
This was followed by the pièce de résistance, a home-made video clip containing pithy advice and encouragement from different members of the department. The graduates then had tea with staff members, a time marked by much catching up, photo-taking, and final farewells.
To all our 2010 graduates, take care and all the best in your future careers and endeavours!
